As you probably know, the caving community is working hard to prevent the spread of White Nose Syndrome. Horne Lake Caves and Rat's Nest Cave both see a lot of visitor traffic so it is especially important to make sure that we neither introduce WNS-causing spores to the site, nor transport them from the site to the rest of the province if they are present. Because of this, we are requiring that any gear that has been used off of Vancouver Island to be decontaminated prior to coming to the BC workshop. This involves soaking everything that goes into the cave in water of at least 60 degrees Celsius for twenty minutes. Please see the links below for more information.
